Knuckles Range Trek
Trek the cloud-forest ridges of a UNESCO wilderness few travellers reach.
What the Knuckles Range Trek is really like.
The Knuckles Range, named for its knuckle-like peaks, is a UNESCO-listed wilderness of cloud forest, montane grassland and remote villages northeast of Kandy. Trekking here means misty ridge walks, waterfalls, leech-socks and real solitude, with day hikes and multi-day routes both possible. The biodiversity is extraordinary, from endemic lizards to rare birds. A mandatory local guide leads the way; the drier months from January to March and August to September are best.
