Rainforest trails
Guided forest walks through dense, dripping primary lowland rainforest.

The island's last great primary rainforest.
Sinharaja is Sri Lanka's last viable tract of primary lowland rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage biosphere reserve of extraordinary endemism — a humid, green world where more than half the trees, and most of the endemic birds, mammals and amphibians, are found nowhere else on earth. This is walking country rather than jeep-safari country, explored slowly on foot with a specialist guide, listening for the famous mixed-species bird flocks and watching for endemic lizards, purple-faced langurs and a wealth of rare amphibians. Forest streams, waterfalls and the Sinhagala summit reward longer treks deeper into the reserve. Expect rain, leeches and a real, rare sense of intact wild forest.
